Cadavillo, Pop, WPKP Cabinet for SGA

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePaul chapter.

Hey DePaul! We had some special guests stop by our last Her Campus meeting! Here’s a brief summary of what they talked to us about so you can stay informed and vote in the upcoming election.

Overall, from their presentation and talking to VP of Operations candidate Adriana Kemper, I have gathered that their main concern is for transparency in SGA. This campaigning group of students wants SGA to be much more involved with student organizations. For example, any issues an organization runs into should be taken up with the Cabinet, and any and all efforts and plans to resolve said issues will be published and check upon frequently. To improve DePaul’s campus, this group is extremely open to organizations reaching out to them, as well as their plan to reach out to several student organizations on a weekly basis.

Cabinet of Student Government Association:

President Vanessa Cadavillo

Vice PresidentRic Popp

·      Educational Accessibility through increased opportunities for financial support such as the MAP and Federal Pell Grants

·      Advance communication between students and advisors to guide students toward a successful college career

·      Serve as a liaison between the students and the administration

·      Develop close relationships with municipal, state, and federal government organizations to promote DePaul and advocate for civic engagement

Vice President of Treasury – Damian Wille

·      Transparency of SGA budget, SAF-B funding, and Tuition Pricing

·      Ensure accessibility to educational resources such as scholarships, grants, and loans offered by the government, DePaul, and outside organizations

Executive Vice President of Academic AffairsKristina Pouliot

·       Increase textbook affordability and spread awareness of available grants and scholarships

Executive Vice President of OperationsAdriana Kemper

Initiatives:

·      Sustainable advocacy – making DePaul a greener campus

·      Blue demon affinity – promoting school pride through traditions such as “On Thursdays We Wear Blue”

·      Enhancing public safety – accessibility and transparency when dealing with the escort service, such as knowing your wait time and continuing the Vinny Van during midterms and finals

Executive Vice President of Student AffairsPatrick Pfohl

Initiatives:

·      Campus inclusion and collaboration – creating opportunities for student organizations to collaborate and interact as one cohesive campus

·      Extending connections beyond campus – using DePaul’s location in Chicago to create lasting bonds within neighboring communities to ensure educational and experiential opportunities

·      DePaul pride through student involvement, athletic/artistic events

Summary in case you are too lazy to read (same dude, same):

·      Transparency in all academic and financial aspects

·      Demon Pride and continuing traditions

·      Sustainable practices for a greener campus

·      Campus collaboration between student organizations

All these candidates have identifiable leadership experience within DePaul, whether it is within SGA or within the numerous other student organizations on campus. They all also have a diverse outlook on life in regards to leadership, service, and applying their different perceptions of the Vincentian mission to represent each student on campus very well. Furthermore, each and every candidate is very approachable and enthusiastic about the change they can implement. Do not feel shy about approaching any of them with any questions or suggestions! THEY ARE SO NICE!! If you’d like to have them swing by a meeting for a student organization that you are involved in, just contact them through their Facebook page.

To clear up any confusion about this campus election, President and Vice President run together on one ticket. Beyond that, all VP’s running together can be elected together, but do not have to be. These six bright individuals are all running together as a campaign because of their similar goals and initiatives in hopes of being elected and instilling change together. However, if you like 3 out of the 4 candidates and decide to vote for someone else for VP of ________, you may do so.

It’s important to stay informed and vote because you can never complain if you don’t take steps to change it. If you like somebody’s initiatives, do your part in voting so that our campus can grow and progress!
