As the temperatures start to drop so will our energy. Although winter is a favorite season to some, others really struggle with it. The colder weather, the gloomy days, the horrible blizzards; seasonal depression is real people! If you suffer from seasonal depression in the winter here are some ways to beat the winter blues!

1.     Take yourself shopping. Shopping can be helpful in a number of situations but in this case, it is much easier to bear the colder weather when you have super cute outfits to do it in!

2.     Get a good book. Even if you do not usually read this is a good time to start. When the harsh weather keeps you from going about your normal day you can grab your favorite book and cozy up by the fire.

3.     Candles. Typically in the summertime, there are flowers to light up your room so the alternative for the winter is candles.  Not to mention winter brings about some of the best-scented candles such as Pumpkin Pie, Flannel, Red Velvet Cupcake, Fresh Balsam and many more.

4.     Bubble baths. I was never a huge fan of bubble baths but after a long, cold day a warm bath is a great way to relax.

5.     Keep yourself busy. As mentioned before, a lot more time is spent indoors due to the weather so it is a good idea to find tasks that will keep you busy. Baking, crafting, exercising or whatever it may be will help pass the time and prevent down time from putting you in a bad mood.

6.     Decorate. It does not matter if you celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas there are still a ton of cute ways to decorate to give your living space that “homey” feel.

7.     Not everyone may agree with this one but go tanning. If you do not do well in the sun consider a spray tan. It is a proven fact that tanning actually improves your mood and physically being tan does the same. This is not saying to go tanning every single day, but a tan once in a while will do some good.

8.     Enjoy. Not everyone likes the winter but everyone can enjoy it by taking part in the winter festivities. Go outside and build a snowman, make snow angles, and have a snowball fight. The winter is not going to go by any faster by sitting around and complaining about it so enjoy it while it lasts because spring will be here before you know it (thank God).

9.     Get a head start on resolutions. New Years, the infamous holiday where we will claim to be a better person, start exercising, stop swearing, you catch my drift. Get a head start so that by the time New Years comes around you actually stand a chance at fulfilling your resolution.

Hopefully this has prepared you for what is to come. Do not let seasonal depression ruin your winter! Use these tips to beat the winter blues and make it the best one yet.
