Bon Voyage, BC: The Things I Will Miss About You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

As the days get colder, the Christmas lights start shining and the hours spent in O’Neill get longer (Finals, anyone?), it becomes clear that the Fall semester is truly coming to an end, whether we want to believe it or not. With that said, in a few short weeks, many members of the Junior class will be switching spots (literally). As those return to BC from their wonderful, if not dream-like semester abroad spent in wanderlust, while others begin to pack their bags unaware of the adventures ahead of them, leaving the place they have called home for five semesters. As excited as I am to spend a semester abroad, there are some things I am having trouble leaving behind and know I will miss:

1. Hillside

Its safe to say that there is nothing like those Hillside omelettes. With the best coffee on campus, a great place to meet with friends, on the flex-plan and some of the best sandwiches around, Hillside, you will be missed.

2. Gasson

Oh, Gasson, how magnificent you are! Yes, walking up those stairs to the third floor may not be ideal, but I still will miss you in all your glory. My Instagram is especially going to miss you.

3. Hockey Season

Although I was able to tailgate away all Fall,  there is no doubt that there is nothing like BC vs. BU or the Beanpot. I’ll miss the chants and the BC spirit all winter long.

4. Marathon Monday

There is no place like Mile 21 on Patriot’s Day. From cheering at the top of your lungs to celebrating with friends, Marathon Monday is one of (if not the) best day of the year.  I can already feel the FOMO I will have as I watch the day’s events from across the pond on social media.

5. Friends

The people who make BC home. Whether they are returning from abroad, going abroad themselves, remaining at BC, or in a club,  I will truly miss them all. I cannot imagine my college experience without them and a semester seems quite daunting.

So there you have it, (only) few of the things I am going to miss about BC while I am abroad. BC, in general, has provided me with so much and it is tough leaving such a surreal place for a semester. I am looking for the adventures ahead, but BC, you’ll always be in my mind and heart.

BON VOYAGE… See you in the Fall!
