If You’re Reading This, It’s Not Too Late

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

If you’re reading this, there is a high possibility that you’re procrastinating studying for finals. So it is my job to say that if you’re reading this, it’s not too late to start now…and you probably should too.

I understand. I really do. I know what it’s like. You tell yourself that you really need to study, but never actually start. You tell yourself you will take a ten-minute break and two hours later, you realize that you’re on your friend’s cousin’s boyfriend’s niece’s Facebook page. Or you tell yourself that you don’t need to go to the library to study because your bed is fine but then you wake up five hours later with an unopened history book on your chest and no recollection of what year it is.

Or the worst possible case: you tell yourself that you’ll start studying tomorrow, for real, you really promise, but….

And it’s the day before the final and you haven’t opened your notes, your book, or even possibly your backpack. So, this is your sign to stop taking extended breaks, stop sleeping to avoid studying, and stop putting the studying off until a time that will never ever sound appealing enough to start, so just do it.

I know it’s so hard to start and there are so many significantly better options that are more appealing than studying. Like seeing how far back you can go on someone’s Instagram without liking their post, stalking friend’s relatives on the Internet, or scrolling through the classroom roster to see if any cuties are in your class next semester. But it’s almost break. There is less than a week left and you will be released from all your academic responsibilities. You can sit in your bed for the next four weeks without picking up a pencil. You just need to get through your finals and I know you can do it.

So, do the impossible and shut off your phone, close your computer, open your backpack, and find a peaceful and non-distracting environment to start your studies. We all know you are going to complain about your final grade and how much better you needed to do once you see it, so save yourself some panic and stress and start studying now. You can do it!

Adrianna is a freshman majoring in psychology on a pre-med track at Boston College. She is really passionate about health and fitness and is trying to make it in Boston as a New York Sports fan. She can be found yelling at the TV a little too loudly when hockey is on, eating honey crisp apples, drooling over dylan o brien, or convincing people, that despite her 5'0 height, she is really 18 years old.
Blake is a senior at Boston College and is pursuing Biology and Pre-Med, as well as the perfect slice of pizza. She is so excited to be a co-Campus Correspondent along with Emily this year! As well as being a writer for Her Campus BC, she is also a member of the Girls Club Lacrosse team, the Public Health Club, and is a physics tutor on campus.
