Recap of the ‘High School Musical’ 10th Anniversary Reunion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

On January 18th, the majority of the cast of the popular 2006 Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical, reunited to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the movie’s release. Millions can quote and sing the original songs made famous by the movie, and “Troy Bolton” has become a household name. The actors acknowledge the influence the movie has had on their live and careers, as well as on their fans. Corbin Bleu, the actor who portrayed Chad Danforth in the movie, explained at the reunion, “The new thing is now, people come up and say ‘you were my childhood.’ That’s the new phrase, which is so weird.”

Members of the cast who participated in the reunion included Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Gabriel, and Monique Coleman. Though Zac Efron could not attend, he contributed a video acknowledging the anniversary and his favorite scene, filming “We’re All in This Together.” “The whole cast in unity at that moment, it was just really fun,” said Zac. “I’ll never forget that day of filming, it’s embedded into my mind.”

Since the whirlwind of success that was High School Musical 1, 2 and 3, many of the actors have progressed in their careers. For the majority of them, the day was special, because it allowed them to look back ten years, to the beginning of their careers. It was a musical night full of nostalgia in the best way possible.
