Galentine’s Day: Here’s What To Do Next Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hawaii chapter.

Now that Valentine’s Day is over, our newsfeeds are filled with people bragging about all the people who love them. But what is this “Galentine’s Day” we hear of? Well to quote the show it came from, Parks and Recreation, it’s only the best day of the year. February 13 is the day to spend with your “lady friends” and leave behind the troubles of husbands and boyfriends….so like every day?

Leslie Knope may spend it at brunch or the spa, but it’s your choice to be creative about how you’re going to treat your favorite women. It’s the perfect chance to get everyone together and celebrate.

Galentine’s Day is for everyone and the options are endless. If you’re into the whole DIY phase, make a cute gift bag inspired by Knope with paper hearts with your favorite things about the person or even friendship bracelets for everyone. Cook an amazing dinner and listen to a playlist full of your favorite female empowering artists. Go and treat yourselves at the mall if that’s what you want!

While romantic relationships may not last forever, your gal pals are there for you no matter what. Galentine’s Day is a lot less miserable and think about the Instagram likes you’ll get now with your whole squad with you.  There’s no pressure to impress anyone like Valentine’s Day and you can be just you with your favorite people.
