Curatum Mobilizes Men’s Fashion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

With New York Fashion Week still on the brain and spring just around the corner, everyone is looking for something new they can add to his or her style. Menswear and men’s fashion can be sometimes overlooked in the mobile shopping world, but those days are behind us thanks to a mobile application called Curatum. Created by Khalid Meniri, Curatum is a relatively new app for men that provides a unique shopping experience based on the idea of simplicity where less is more. Curatum selects one specialty item each day and brings the suggestion to your phone.

According to Apple, “Curatum is the first and only luxury mobile commerce experience built exclusively for men.” So what does that mean? It means that shopping for designer items has never been easier! With features like “Editor’s Pick” and “Tailored To You,” Curatum brings style options right to your fingers instead of you having to spend a whole day shopping in stores or online. The luxury goods shown on the app include designer clothes, but also extend beyond apparel and into accessories and home furnishings. Sunglasses, duffel bags, and pieces of fine art are only a few things you can expect to find while scrolling.

The “Editor’s Pick” feature brings you one item each day, handpicked by the Curatum editors so you know it’s worth your while to take a peek. The selected objects come from an array of designers around the world, so you an always expect uniqueness. The “Tailored to You” section recommends products based on your individual behaviors within the app and other factors like your location and the weather. The more you use the app to save favorite items or make purchases, the more the recommendation engine will be able to gauge your style preferences.

Perhaps one of the most appealing aspects of Curatum is the modern, minimalist aesthetic. The app is sleek with a black-and-white color scheme that makes for easy reading. Users can scroll through the menu and items effortlessly  without spending hours trying to figure out how to navigate the application. When you find an item you like, the item specifications and designer or brand information are on the same page listed right below the object’s photo. Speaking of easy, let’s say you’re ready to make a purchase through the Curatum app. How does it work? Since Curatum is a luxury shopping service, the items will be shipped from boutiques around the world; however, distance is no issue. Curatum utilizes Apple Pay, allowing users to securely pay for their orders with one touch.

The app is about as simple as it gets, but your average college guy might go into sticker shock while looking at the designer products. Remember, Curatum is about specialty style and exceptional quality. High fashion comes at a price, and while the average college guy may not be ready to buy a $600 lamp right now, using the app is a great way to keep up with the latest men’s fashion. For now, you can admire the curated picks and try finding similar styles in your local stores. Then once you’ve made it to Wall Street or Hollywood, you can spice up your wardrobe with that Missoni jacket and say you found it first on Curatum.
