The Craziest Stuff Friends Asked Me to Watch

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

You’ve probably experienced this moment where you just entered work mode and a friend interrupts the study session with eight deadly words: “Oh my gosh, you need to watch this.”

Even when you’re out and about, viral videos and funny memes that you didn’t know existed somehow end up in your newsfeed. Sooner or later, your Facebook Wall starts to mirror the “Recommendations” sidebar on YouTube.

In my video-sharing history, I have been asked to watch “funny” videos and funny/LOL/happy tears emoji videos. But for me, I have a serious case of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), so I’ll watch anything from an awkward “Lip Sync Battle” to a panda rolling around in snow (you know the one).

Here are the top 5 videos shared amongst my social circle in the last 12 months. Comments included.

1.  Inflatable Ducks

Comment: I didn’t crack a smile during the first watch. *Watch it a week later* Ahhh!!! ahaha (My Engineering roomies were laughing at the science, of course.)

2. Pikachu Squad Dance

Comment: I grew up a Pokémon fan and I was sold on this video just after 8 seconds. The choreography and music mesh so well together just like Pikachu and Ash do.

3. Figure Skating Falls

Comment: This is terrible to admit, but there is a silver lining in all of this. Not everyone is flawless, but practice makes perfect.

4. Bostonians Jumping out of Windows into Snow

Comment: “These are adults jumping out of windows.” – Mayor Marty Walsh said at a press conference. (Nuff said.)

5. Drunk Girls Get Surprised With Puppies

Comment: I would react the same way sans alcohol. The only difference: emotions are heightened x10. Honestly, who doesn’t love puppies?

It doesn’t matter if someone shares a bad funny or good funny video with me, knowing that the sender wants me to have a laugh is the ultimate gift. #SpreadLoveThroughLaughter
