Top Teas to Try for Every Mood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

There’s a tea for every occasion—for every feeling, for every time of day. It doesn’t hurt that tea can keep you hydrated, either (and is wonderfully healthy, as long as you don’t overload it on the sugar or cream). As a lover of (what is essentially) hot leaf juice, I’ve compiled a list of suggestions for every tea taste. Decide for yourself if you think they’re tearrific!

For when you’re sitting down to watch a movie at night… Zhena’s Gypsy Tea Herbal Red Tea Fire Light Chai

The sweet, spicy bite of rooibos tea is perfect for keeping your mind awake, but this decaf tea won’t keep your body awake for longer than you want it. The heat in this tea is coupled with just a touch of citrus, and if you want a more traditional, creamy chai, add in milk and sugar and enjoy.

For after you’ve had a satisfying meal… Sunflower Jasmine Tea

What better way to end a meal than with the clarifying, light taste of classic jasmine tea? Green teas are traditionally had post-meal in Asian countries, and for good reason—they melt away all the heaviness in your belly after overeating. Even without a meal to go with it, jasmine tea is the perfect pick-me-up.

For when all you want is the sugariest orange soda possible… Yogi Sweet Tangerine Positive Energy Tea

Have you ever just needed something ridiculously sugary, but you knew you really shouldn’t be sneaking a glass of your roommate’s orange soda? A warm cup of tea just tangy enough is the perfect solution. Herbal citrus teas are also great in morning routines—they’re tummy-soothing and orangey!

For when you’re dealing with early mornings and really want is to be somewhere aesthetically foggy… Taylor’s Harrogate Yorkshire Black Tea

It’s seven in the morning, you have an exam in half an hour, and you’d really much rather be at a misty beach wrapped in a fuzzy sweater with a warm mug of black tea in hand. Well, even if you can’t be at a misty beach, you can have a mug of warm black anyway. Black tea is the perfect low-calorie substitute for coffee, too.

For when you need just five more minutes of calm… Tazo Zen Tea

For me, tea is the ultimate stress reliever, and Tazo’s famous Zen tea is an island of quiet in a noisy sea. It’s a smooth green tea with just a touch of lemongrass, and best of all, since it’s served at Starbucks, Tazo Zen is available pretty much anywhere. It’s served with the Starbucks original syrup in-store, but I like it with just a squeeze of lemon.

For when your sinuses needs to be on point… Prince of Peace Instant Ginger Honey Crystals

Whether you’ll need to get through an exam with minimal usage of tissues or you’ll be presenting an awesome speech and your throat needs to be clear, honey ginger tea is the perfect solution. It’s also a great palate cleanser as well as a sinus cleanser, and ginger honey crystals look super pretty dissolving in hot water.
