Meet Marie Herzberger. She’s an adult coloring, yellow loving, beach going, avocado growing, Target loving, sophomore here at USFSP.

Marie is from Ocala, FL where she lived with her mom, dad, and Golden Retriever, Pappy. She chose to come to USFSP because she loved the location and the water. But that’s not all that drove her here.

“I’ve wanted to work in pediatrics medicine for so long, so having All Children’s close was exciting and I saw a lot of opportunity here,” Herzberger said.

Herzberger is a biology major who plans to become a pediatric nurse practitioner after she graduates. She is currently finishing up her last semester here before transferring to the Tampa campus for nursing school. There will be a long journey ahead to get to where she wants to be, but the hard work will pay off in the long run.

“It will be two years for nursing school and another two to become a nurse practitioner,” Herzberger said.

To get some experience in now, Marie is volunteering her time at All Children’s Hospital down the street. She is called a Child Life Volunte and she works in the Oncology Department.

“I plan on continuing to volunteer there over the summer,” Herzberger said.

With all of that going on, Marie still finds time to be involved on campus by being a Student Assistant for the Housing and Residence Life office. She says that meeting and interacting with new people and students is her favorite part of her job here.

While we will all miss her when she leaves, we know that this is only the beginning for all the great things she will do in the future.
