Getting Out of the Midterm Slump

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

Spring is here, but sadly, so are midterms. Here at Her Campus at Oklahoma State, we have compiled a list of things that help us get out of our midterm slump!

1. After cramming all day you’re probably going to be tired and exhausted. So take a little time off and treat yo’self! Take a break and watch your favorite TV shows on Netflix, paint your nails, or give yourself a facial. Use the time to relax and take a break from your text books.

2. Go outside! Going outside and getting some fresh-air and sunshine will help you relax and clear your mind. Take a walk around campus or go for a jog around Boomer Lake.

3. Go out with your friends! Spending time all alone in your dorm room can get old fast, get some friends together for a lunch date or even studying together can help make studying not so tedious.

4. Take a nap! If there’s one thing college students love, it’s napping. Instead of cramming all hours of the day and into the night, take a nap so you wake up feeling refreshed and awake so you can study more.

5. Take a bubble bath! If you’re lucky enough to live in a house or in one of the dorms with a bathtub then consider yourself #Blessed. If you’re without a tub, opt for a hot shower instead! Being in the soothing hot water and feeling clean will make your muscles relax and you’ll feel better and more awake!

6. Get some exercise! Sitting around all day is not good for you! You may not feel 100% about going to the gym, but weight lifting or going to a Zumba class will help stretch you out and get your muscles warmed up, you’ll feel better once your workout is finished!

7. Volunteer! There’s nothing better then helping others! Go to the local animal shelter and walk the dogs and play with kittens, or go to the soup kitchen and prepare meals for those less fortunate. You’ll feel better and you’ll help make a difference, even if it’s a small one.

8. Clean your room! Being in a dirty cluttered room while trying to study isn’t an ideal situation. Try taking out your trash and cleaning off your desk so you have a clean space to work in!

9. Switch it up! Get out of your room and try a new location! Staying in one location for long periods of time can get boring super fast! Try going to the library or a coffee shop!

10. Grab something to eat! One of our favorite things to do as college students is eat. So take some time off and go grab some lunch or a late night snack with your friends! You’ll satisfy your hunger and get to spend time with your friends.
