5 New Restaurants on West Tennessee Street You Need to Know About

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

A few new restaurant chains have started to fill in the empty lots on busy Tennessee Street. Chick-fil-a and Chipotle are both beloved student favorites, but if you are willing to try some new cuisine I suggest you read along for more details about the latest places to reside close to campus.

1. Zoe’s Kitchen

If you want to eat the best Mediterranean food, Zoe’s Kitchen has got you covered. This Greek chain has a wide menu that includes homemade hummus, orzo pasta, chicken and steak kabobs as well as fresh salads. Entrees are served with your choice of rice pilaf, hummus & pita chips, veggies or red potatoes. Pro-tip: if you think you would like a side of red potatoes try the potato salad warmed up! It is delicious and perfectly compliments chicken kabobs.

2. Which Wich

Opening on Tennessee Street on March 2nd, this restaurant lets you customize your sandwiches into personalized delicacies. They offer a signature Wicked sandwich that comes packed with five meats (turkey, ham, roast beef, pepperoni and bacon) and also dozens of vegetarian options. You can get your sandwich, or “wich” as they like to call them, wrapped in lettuce, too. The ordering process is what makes this place especially unique to the restaurant business. Guests use sharpies to draw on brown bags to indicate which bread, cheese, spreads and toppings they want in their sandwich. The guarantee that this restaurant comes with is said best by owner David Walker, “if you are not satisfied with your sandwich we will replace it, refund your money, or both. We stand behind all of our sandwiches.”

3. Bento Cafe

Florida is home to 3 Bento Cafe restaurants so far and the Tallahassee location marks another successfully opening. The term “bento” means boxed-meal in Japanese and is major component to Bento’s menu. The bento boxes are served with your choice of meat, a side or rice or noodles and a vegetable. Bento Cafe will also give Hiro’s boba teas some competition as they also serve their own versions of fruity and milk-based bubble tea.

4. Blaze Pizza

The Chipotle of pizza is how I would sum up what Blaze Pizza brings to the restaurant world. With endless options to choose from, you’ll have to come back a few times to try new variations of your favorite pizzas. You become your own pizza artisan by crafting a personal sized gourmet meal for one. Each pizza is sent straight into the oven for on the spot cooking. Prices start at $7.45 and include unlimited toppings, enabling you to add as much or as little as you want.

5. Smashburger

If you are tired of eating the same old cheeseburgers and fries, look no further than to Smashburger for a delightful change of pace. Guests can choose from a menu of classic burgers or chicken sandwiches or create their own. Some menu highlights include the BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar, the Spinach, Cucumber & Goat Cheese and the Avocado Club. Their signature smashfries that come coated with a drizzle of olive oil and herbs are also a must-have with any sandwich pick.
