#GirlLove and Women’s History Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stockton chapter.

Lilly Singh, also known as IISuperwomanII on her YouTube Channel recently released a campaign that goes by the hashtag, #GirlLove. On December 28th 2015, she uploaded this video to her over 8 million subscribers, resulting in some great reactions from various celebrities over the internet.

#GirlLove is as great as it sounds, with women everywhere opting to compliment other women instead of tearing them down! It’s about spreading the love for our fellow women instead of tearing them down! It’s important to remember this as we all celebrate Women’s History Month.

I went around and asked some of the Stockton community to give a compliment to a specific woman or to compliment girls in general. Here are there responses:

“All women are so amazing! They’re empowering, strong, lovely, exciting, passionate, beautiful, and just plain great to be around! They are the basis for what’s good in the world and create environments for everyone.” – Naijasia Thomas ‘18

“Women have a natural strength! That natural strength makes women superior and empowered. Women represent beauty – have been since the beginning of time!” – Isola Webbe ‘18

“We’re independent. We see opportunities that are out there and achieve them on our own! Look at Hillary Clinton. She’s out there going out there doing things we’ve never done before.”-Anonymous

“Without women, there would be no civilization.” – La-Tasha Randolph ‘18

I'm a music-loving, afro-rocking, soul-searching, wanna-be adult that probably spends too much time on the internet. I think a good lipstick is the key to running the world and tea can solve any issues. Writing is the answer to all my problems. Follow my twitter @naijxsia!
