This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

If you’re a 90s baby like me, the one thing you remember is the music. The 1990’s celebrated some of the finest hits and bands of the century. Whether it be rock, pop, rap or alternative, we will never forget the jams of the decade. Below are just a few that will bring back those amazing memories.

1. “Wannabe” by The Spice Girls

From the UK to the U.S., this girl group had us feeling like we were having tea with the queen! The Spice Girls were the ultimate girl squad and had us loving our friends with the hit song “Wannabe.” Now let’s break out our mini skirts and decide who is going to be Sporty Spice!

2. “…Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears

We will never forget those school girl vibes! Britney Spears brought innocence and spice to the 90s with this pop jam! She had us wanting to go to school every day, especially if we could wear that outfit!

3. “No Scrubs” by TLC

This song had guys weary about being a “scrub,” and women yelling from the top of their lungs. TLC’s classic 90s hit had us feeling all types of ways about the men in our lives, proving we don’t have to settle for “no scrub.”

4. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana

This head banging, teen angst anthem got our heads pounding and introduced us to the very talented Kurt Cobain. This hit had pop and rap lovers feeling the rock beat and wanting more from the band.

5. “I Want It That Way” by Backstreet Boys

How can we forget one of the original boy bands? Backstreet Boys had us feeling some type of way with their 90s hit “I Want It That Way.” They brought the emotion and charm to this pop single and had us swooning over their good looks.

6. “Wonderwall” by Oasis

We fell in love with Oasis’ British sound with their hit “Wonderwall.” The alternative rock sound became a well known and popular genre for the decade and reminded us that not every 90s song has to have the typical pop sound.

7. “Macarena” by Los Del Rio

Move over, “whip and nae nae”, the “Macarena” was the original song and dance that got us moving at proms and weddings. The smash Latina sound became a cult favorite and proved it was no one hit wonder. Go to any large gathering today, and the DJ will surely play this one!

90s, we miss you and will always remember your musical hits. No decade will ever compare.
