Ways to Know You Take Chem Lab

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

The more I think about it, the more I notice how excited I get over the little things that occur during chemistry lab. To others, they don’t mean anything, but to those of us that spend three hours a week in a lab…it can come to mean everything.

When you get excited that the Pre-Lab is mostly Logger Pro directions because you don’t need to write them in the procedure.

When a lab is more than one period, so you are free from a week of post lab and pre lab questions.

When you complain about going to lab every day up until the lab and every day after…so basically every day.

When you have to cope with the dent on your face from the goggles.

When getting out before the 3 hours is up is the highlight of your week…is that sad?

When you finally did something right and your percent error is under 5 percent.

When your gloves are still in the drawer and even better, when you spot them right away.

When your TA says there is no quiz on the pre lab.

When you have a pre lab quiz three classes in a row.

When you get the exact amount of solution in the first try and don’t need to spend time pouring the solution back and forth.

When you get out before dinner closes and late night opens.

So there you have it. I don’t know if this makes me lame or nerdy, but it’s kind of funny how I’ve come to appreciate the little things that occur during lab!

(Hey, I’m just trying to make the most of it…)

Adrianna is a freshman majoring in psychology on a pre-med track at Boston College. She is really passionate about health and fitness and is trying to make it in Boston as a New York Sports fan. She can be found yelling at the TV a little too loudly when hockey is on, eating honey crisp apples, drooling over dylan o brien, or convincing people, that despite her 5'0 height, she is really 18 years old.
Blake is a senior at Boston College and is pursuing Biology and Pre-Med, as well as the perfect slice of pizza. She is so excited to be a co-Campus Correspondent along with Emily this year! As well as being a writer for Her Campus BC, she is also a member of the Girls Club Lacrosse team, the Public Health Club, and is a physics tutor on campus.
