4 ‘Mega Babe’ Female Celebs You Should Follow on Instagram

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Irvine chapter.

Instagram definitely lives up to its triple threat popularity. Serving as a mobile, photo and video-sharing, and social networking platform, Instagram allows users to publicly or privately post content as well as “follow” friends, family, and interest accounts. Many celebrities have also jumped on the Instagram boat, giving worldwide fans a glimpse into their personal life through their pictures and captions. Through social media of this nature, it helps people realize how a celebrity is as normal as any other person.

Because International Women’s Day recently passed, here are four “Mega Babe” female celebs who have not only demonstrated that they are a force to be reckoned with, but have also shown that they are strong, independent, and beautiful women both inside and out.

(L-R: Demi Lovato, Gina Rodriguez, Hilary Duff, Mindy Kaling)

1.     Demi Lovato (@ddlovato)

Better known for her breakout acting role in Disney Channel’s original movie, “Camp Rock,” the artist has done it all as a singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Through the course of her career, 23-year-old Lovato has used fame to shed light on topics near and dear to her heart. As a spokesperson for mental health, Lovato has opened up about her personal struggles with depression, eating disorders, self-harm, and bullying in the hopes of helping others who are experiencing these struggles. As an agent for change through her rehab and recovery success, and as an activist for the LGBT community, she is definitely admirable. She is very active on Instagram, showcasing her relationship with cutie, Wilmer Valderrama, her love for snapchat filters, fashion, and women empowerment.

2.     Gina Rodriguez (@hereisgina)

Also known as Jane from the hit TV show, “Jane the Virgin,” Gina Rodriguez has hit the world by storm. She is all for breaking down ethnic and gender stereotypes and empowering women of all colors and sizes to embrace their beauty by themselves. In 2015, Rodriguez’s first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Comedy came with an emotional acceptance speech, captivating the public and social media, and trending “#ICANIWILL.” On and off screen, Rodriguez is a ray of sunshine. She is full of life and love, so follow Rodriguez on Instagram as she takes her fans into her life as a pioneer for women empowerment, her silly dance moves, cute selfies, and boxing training videos. “Jane the Virgin” was recently picked up for the third season. There is more of Rodriguez we will see in the future.

3.     Hilary Duff (@hilaryduff)

Child star, fashion pioneer, singer, actress, and beautiful mother, Hilary Duff—or known by many 90’s kids as Lizzie McGuire— is all grown up now. She is amongst the few Disney Channel stars who have successfully kept their life under wraps to become a wife and mother, prioritizing her family over the glamorous Hollywood life. Nowadays, she balances being the mother of her beautiful boy, Luca, and her lead role in the TV show, “Younger.” On Instagram, Duff brings fans into her social, work, and mom life. She still looks absolutely beautiful in the latest fashion trends, so keep up and follow her on Instagram to see Duff do it all.

4.     Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling)

Kaling is the only woman of color to be both the face and creative force behind a network TV show, “The Mindy Project”. She is a successful actress, comedian, writer, producer, and director. She embodies the characteristics of being intelligent, magnificent, and humorous throughout her career. Kaling has a talent for inspiring others to look at life with a sense of humor and make light of the issues that people face in everyday life. Being a woman of color, educated, and successful in her career, she is the epitome of #girlboss. Follow Kaling on Instagram as she takes you through her life journey.
