Hello, my fellow students here at Framingham State. As we all know it is that time of year for us; we feel that spring-fever itching at our bones, tempting us with the upcoming promise of summer vacation fast approaching just like back in grade school. With such a distraction on the way, it is important to keep in mind that we still have work to do before we can allow ourselves that sweet break from classes. That is why, my fellow underclassmen and graduating seniors, that I made this help list of tips to hitting the early senioritis head on!

1. Keep on your syllabus

The syllabus will be your best friend for your whole academic career that helps keep you up to date on all of your assignments! The semester is reaching the halfway point and I know you don’t want to slack off now, we’re almost there! So to make your you make it out of this semester in one tacked, keep your syllabus close and keep up with your readings, they’re here to make sure you succeed!

2. Plan for next term

It’s always a good idea to plan ahead! Whether you are returning after the summer break or you are a graduating senior, having a game plan goes a long way. Look for the classes you should be taking for credits or start looking for work opportunities after school. Not a lot of students will have a game plan for when the get out of school, but you and I both know we don’t want to live with your parents forever. Wherever you go, make sure you know what way you’re going!

3. Papers first, Vacation later

Like I said before, the syllabus is your best friend, your partner in crime, and the apple of your eye. It’s your go-to for upcoming assignments and they key to knowing everything required of you to do this term. We all have those pesky papers we don’t want to do, but your grade requires it. But when we do get them done, we can breathe a sigh of relief and look forward to summer break!

4. Clean your room

With us reaching the end of the term, I am sure you all of thinking of the upcoming breaks as well as leaving when summer break comes around. Not to mention we have all this work to do before hand: papers, final exams, the works. What I would recommend to you all before our departures is to think about giving your room a good clean! Take some of your things you’re not using and start bringing them home over the long weekends and breaks to get a jump start on moving out. I know we won’t be leaving for a good while, but it’s never too late to get your room, and yourself, organized!

5. Keep Up with Your Studies!

We’re coming to the end of the semester, and I don’t know about the rest of you, but I know my major assignments are starting and that will probably be the same for the rest of you. To make sure you’re not blind-sided by up-coming assignments, keep up with your homework, your reading, and study time! It’s the end of the year and you don’t want to fall behind so early in the new term, believe me, I know. It will feel so much better when you get caught up and when it comes time to do these assignments, you’ll be ready!

6. Ignoring that Spring-Fever

You know what I’m talking about. That warm fuzzy feeling we got back in grade school the second spring hit, the sensation of upcoming summer vacation, running out the doors in a flurry of tossed papers and screaming students. Though that itch may still be on the ice with the previous snow days we’ve had, its coming and I can feel it in my bones. My advice; don’t let it sidetrack you, we have a lot of work to do before we are ready to run out these doors to our long-awaited breaks! Focus on your studies, pace yourself with work, and don’t let the senioritis bite you in the butt.
