The Triple Threat: Peyton Bruce

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Do you ever wonder what your college life would be like if you could pursue all of your passions? It’s fun to daydream about, but many of us never feel like we have the chance because of our crazy schedules. Well, meet Peyton Bruce, the girl who is actually following all of her dreams. Her schedule isn’t for the faint of heart, but she still manages to lead a happy and light-hearted life. Check her out!

Her Campus Utah: Where are you from?

Peyton Bruce: Marshall, Minnesota

Her Campus Utah: What made you choose the U?

Peyton Bruce: I chose the U because the ballet program is one of the top ones in the nation. I can also triple major here, and most ballet programs don’t allow you to do that.

Her Campus Utah: What are your majors?

Peyton Bruce: Ballet, Psychology, and Pre-Medicine.

Her Campus Utah: What year are you?

Peyton Bruce: I am currently a freshman.

Her Campus Utah: What kind of extracurricular activities do you do?

Peyton Bruce: I volunteer a lot through tutoring for Bud Bailey Tutoring, I am an undergraduate research assistant through the PEBBL Lab, I have an on-campus job at the University of Utah Phone-a-thon, and I performed last semester in the student showcase for the Ballet Department.

Her Campus Utah: What leadership roles do you have on campus?

Peyton Bruce: Currently, I am on the Freshman Ambassador Board, which is a part of the Union Programming Council, I’m on the Emerging Leaders Council, and as of April, I am a program director for Bud Bailey Tutoring, a community service outreach through the Bennion Center.

Her Campus Utah: Any hobbies on top of all that?

Peyton Bruce: Photography, ukulele, singing, crafting. I’m so crafty, it’s nuts.

Her Campus Utah: How do you find the time in your schedule for all of your interests and passions?

Peyton Bruce: I live by my planner. It takes a lot of organization, and if I’m not organized, none of this happens. Everything I’m involved in is very important to me, so if I care about it, I will find the time. It’s also really about trying to be balanced.

Her Campus Utah: What do you do to cope with the stress of your schedule?

Peyton Bruce: I make a lot of lists. I go on walks to clear my mind, and I stay connected to my friends by asking them about their lives so I don’t stress about my own. Also, I try to not procrastinate.

Her Campus Utah: Where do you hope to be after your undergrad?

Peyton Bruce: Ideally, I’ll be dancing with a professional ballet company and heading off to med school.

Her Campus Utah: What is your dream job?

Peyton Bruce: I kind of have a split path. I want to be a professional ballerina but I also want to be a psychiatrist.

Her Campus Utah: Do you have a favorite place to study on campus?

Peyton Bruce: Probably the study rooms in my dorm.

Her Campus Utah: What about a favorite place to waste time on campus?

Peyton Bruce: Legacy Bridge, it’s just my place of choice to be on campus.

Her Campus Utah: Do you have a favorite memory at the U so far?

Peyton Bruce: Probably just spending time with all of my new friends.

Her Campus Utah: Any advice to other multi-major students?

Peyton Bruce: When people say you can’t do it, don’t listen to them. Every time I say that I’m a triple major, people say I’m crazy or that I can’t do it. Just stay committed, stay true to you, stay organized, and remember that you love what you’re doing.
