How to Beat the Post-Holiday Blues

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Strath chapter.

Getting back into a routine after a summer spent in the sun can sometimes feel impossible. The tan starts to fade, the winter clothes come out and the assignments amount. However, you’ll be glad to hear it is possible to overcome this hurdle and to make the most of the cold days ahead, just follow these simple steps…

Embrace the cold weather. Yes, it gets cold and yes, it will probably rain most days. What does this mean? This means you can cuddle up every night by the fire, indulge in sweets with a hot chocolate in hand. The best part? No guilt since the weather permits it!

  • Comfy clothing. So, whilst you might not feel guilt for sitting in all night, you may feel a little guilt for all the sweets you’ve just tucked in to. But why? Stock your wardrobe full of comfy and warm clothing and indulge, you’ve got all year to get ‘bikini body ready’!

  • And if you’re still not convinced, book a winter break. Perhaps it doesn’t quite compare to lying on a beach in the Algarve, but a weekend break could be all you need to relax. Particularly around the festive season, the Christmas markets in Berlin, Budapest and Copenhagen will be sure to put a smile on your face.
