Fall DIY Decorations for Dorm Rooms

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

Autumn is here, but is your dorm missing some fall-flare? These crafts are easy, cute and affordable – some even require you to become a scavenger and search the campus for beautiful leaves and sticks!

This one will light up a room, literally!

Centerpieces, like this DIY candle set, are an easier craft for the beginners out there. You can find most of these supplies at your local Dollar Store and the list is short:

– Mod Podge

– Leaves

– Candle (real/ fake)

– Twine

Get creative with this one!

This is one of my favorites to DIY. It’s perfect for those who don’t really like carving pumpkins. Again, this is an easy craft to do! It really allows you to be as creative as you want. You can get most of these supplies at Michaels and the local HyVee. The supplies you’ll need:

– Pumpkin (any size)

– Paint

– Paintbrushes

Let’s get spooky!

Add a ghostly touch to your space with another cheap and easy DIY. This is good for those who are looking for something to do with things around their dorm. It’s fast and an easy decoration to put outside of your dorm room or by your window. You can find almost all of the supplies around your dorm room. Supplies you’ll need:

– Milk cartons

– Sharpie markers

– Fake candles (real ones will melt the plastic)

Lastly, a tough DIY that’s worth your time!

If you are looking for a challenge, this is the DIY project for you! It involves patience and creativity. This one is good for those who want to add a sophisticated look in a dorm. This is a more versatile project you can use it for the whole fall season, too. You can find these supplies at the Dollar Store and Michaels. Supplies you’ll need:

-Paint

-Mason jars

-Burlap

-Fabric markers

-Fake or real flowers

Here are four of my favorite DIY projects for the fall! Any of these crafts are perfect for sprucing up a space in any dorm or apartment. If you try of these DIYs, tag us on IG/Twitter @hcstambrose and use the hashtag #HCSAU. Happy fall, bees!
