Relive Your 90’s Childhood With These 8 Last-Minute Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stockton chapter.

Millennials are absolutely obsessed with nostalgia-and that’s no secret. The 90s were rich in cult classics and we are constantly and consistently trying to bring them back. If you’re a last-minute type B hot-mess (like me) and you find yourself on the day of Halloween costume-less, check out these 8 easy ideas that are sure to make you relive your 90s childhood.

1. Sabrina the Teenage Witch

Who didn’t want to grow up to be a teenage-witch when they were in 2nd grade? This costume is so simple because most of her outfits are current fashion trends. Pair a plain top with a plaid skirt and chunky boots and you’re good to go! If you’re looking for group costumes, have your friends dress as Aunt Zelda and Hilda!

2. Mrs. Doubtfire

I’m sure we all grew up watching this classic, and still do when it plays on Freeform on Sunday mornings. As a tribute to the beloved Robin Williams, rock that granny wig and your friends will love it. Most of these items are probably already in your closet, or if not, check your grandmothers!

3. Ms. Frizzle

Remember the days when your teacher would wheel in the TV cart and you knew you were about to spend the next hour being taught by Ms Frizzle? She gave us some of the best lessons, and this quick costume is salute to those days. If you have the time, buy a few pieces of felt from a fabric store, cut them into stars and planets and hot glue them to a blue dress. Don’t forget to curl your hair into a messy updo!

4. Cher from Clueless

If you can’t find the exact outfit pieces, don’t sweat it! Dress preppy, sport an attitude, and people are going to scream “As If!” at you.

5. Reggie from Rocket Power

Growing up we all wished we could be as care-free and sassy as Reggie Rocket. This DIY requires practically no effort which is perfect for busy college students. Draw a rocket onto a pink shirt, pair it with camo pants and dig out your old vans from the back of your closet. Longboarders- use this as a chance to show off some of your skills!

6. The Nanny

Fran Drescher easily had the best style of the entire decade. Luckily for us, a lot of her key fashion pieces can currently be found at your local Forever 21. Pick out an animal print jacket, or printed blazer and a tight mini-skirt. Be sure to make your hair as big as possible for this one.

7. Rugrats

College students are a lot like babies- they need frequent naps and are often crying. This Halloween really embody that cliche and go as a character from the Rugrats. These costumes are especially great for large groups. Each person can have their choice of going as Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil, Angelica, Susie or any of their parents.

8. Spice Girls

This pop group is another perfect group costume for you and your girls! Grab your roommates and each of you can pick your favorite spice girl. This also gives you the excuse to karaoke to Wannabe which we all want to do anyway.

I hope some of these costumes gave you inspiration to make this Halloween a tribute to one of your favorite childhood classics. Have a safe and happy Halloween, collegiates!
