10 Things That Have Happened Since the Cubs Last Won the World Series

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

And the curse of the Billy Goat is broken! The Chicago Cubs are officially the World Champions of baseball, after 108 years of a small dry spell. Isn’t that crazy? One hundred and eight years, more than likely very few people are even still alive who last saw the Cubs win this sporting event. And to be honest, I felt like I was going to die waiting for them to win last night (game literally ended at 12:45AM….really, is that necessary?) But credit has to be given where credit is due, the Cubs deserve this. I’ll say it again, 108 years is a loooooong time. So long in fact, that all of these cool things happened since that last fateful baseball game:

  1. The radio was invented.
  2. The TV was invented.
  3. Haley’s Comet passed Earth…two different times.
  4. The NBA, NHL, and NFL were all created.
  5. Man landed on the moon.
  6. There’s been 16 different US Presidents.
  7. Our right to drink was taken away….and then given back.
  8. The Titanic was built, set sail, sank, was discovered….and became an award winning movie.
  9. Over 40 sessions of the Olympic Games have occurred.
  10. 5 states were added to our country (Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Oklahoma, and New Mexico).

So Cubs fans, a lot has happened since your team last celebrated a big win. But it’s ok because for the next year, you’re world champions so what else really matters?
