Nashville Restaurant Review: Sitar Indian Cuisine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Vanderbilt chapter.

Some restaurants are favorites in the Taste of Nashville program; we’ve all been to Cabana, Bread & Co. and Chili’s. However, there are a variety of other walkable restaurants included in the program that you probably haven’t heard about. Sitar Indian Cuisine is one of these hidden gems. I love Indian food, so I was excited to check this place out.

As the name suggests, Sitar is an authentic Indian restaurant. Their menu is expansive and includes both vegetarian and meat options. There are also a variety of combination plates so that you can sample different dishes. The combination plates are huge—you could easily share a combination plate and an order of samosas between two people and still be full.

I started with the vegetable samosas, which are fried dumplings filled with potatoes, peas, and spices. They were good sized and definitely some of the better samosas I’ve had (I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur even though I’m not). I then moved on to the chaana masala, which is my favorite dish of all time. The portion was massive and it was delicious. I have had my leftovers for two different meals now, so at $9.95 it was definitely a bargain.

The service was fairly quick and the employees were all super friendly. The décor isn’t anything fancy, but overall the vibe works. I will definitely be headed back to Sitar soon, most likely for the $9.95 lunch buffet!
