4 Things You Need to Know on Election Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WPUNJ chapter.

Election Day is almost here! For those who have registered and plan on voting, your ballot will uphold the decision of which candidate will be our 45th president.  Regardless of who you vote for, it is imperative to fully understand the election procedure to ensure that your ballot is counted. So, here are 4 things you need to know on Election Day:

  1. Check your polling place: Make sure you know where and how to get to your voting station in advance. In addition, be aware of the station’s hour operation to make sure that you get there before it closes.

   2.  Bring an ID: Make sure to bring a photo ID with you to the polling station. Although there are some stations that do not require ID, you should bring one just in case to ensure that your vote will be counted. Examples of an acceptable ID include driver’s license, state-issued ID cards, military ID cards, and passports.

  3. Ask when you need help: PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING. Your ballot is extremely important and any mistake could disqualified your vote. If you are confused about something, make sure to ask.

      4. Voting Takes Time: it is unlikely that your voting process will take under 5 minutes. Make sure to schedule ahead and dedicate at least 30 minutes to an hour towards Election Day.

Make sure you go out and vote! Have your voice heard. Plus, you get a cute sticker once you’re done. And who does’t like stickers?
