My Pre and Post Finals Feelings

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Irvine chapter.

Finals at UCI officially wrapped up this week and you would think three years into college I would know how to conquer finals, but unfortunately that’s not the case. If you’re anything like me here are some of the many thoughts and emotions, I was feeling during finals (with one exception).

1. Denial

Finals week is here?! I could’ve sworn the semester just started last week and now I have four exams and four papers all due in one week?! I’ll never finish!

2. Procrastination

I have to start studying…wait the Gilmore Girls revival is on Netflix? I totally have time to study and have fun.

3. Sleep Deprivation

I’ve slept five hours in the past two days…why am I like this? MUST SLEEP BUT I NEED AN A IN THIS CLASS! *Consumes three cups of coffee in two hours*

4. Happiness

I AM FREE! I can’t wait to party it up with my friends and get far away from campus for a whole month.

5. Anxiety

Final grades have been posted already?! *Checks grade immediately* Or Why haven’t my grades been posted? Are my teachers trying to torture me? *Refreshes page every hour*

6. Boredom

Well it’s been a full day of break and none of my friends have contacted me. I have no friends. I am not loved and I will just Netflix and sleep by myself. It’s fine. Really.

7. Excitement

In all seriousness, I am very excited to have a month that isn’t involved with stress, anxiety or tests. This writer is particularly excited because her birthday is coming up soon! (December 14: mark your calendars)

Enjoy your winter break and enjoy your holiday now that finals are over! The holidays are a time of joy and appreciation so I hope whatever your plans are over winter break that you enjoy yourself and take time to appreciate what you have!

When I'm not writing articles, I enjoy working out, meditating, listening to podcasts, traveling and surrounding myself with people who bring me joy.
