What I Learned from Using Tinder for a Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

I was on Tinder for a month, and this is what happened:

As a college student with an agenda filled with things that have to be done (aside from homework) I have learned that dating when you’re a girl constantly on the go is, means your dating life kind of sucks. You spend your weekends either in your apartment watching Netflix, or you’re at a frat party just for the free drinks and some drunken conversation with your friends, and the semi cute boy from you Physics class.

After a summer and a whole semester of singleness I decided to have a go at Tinder. Within the first 30 minutes of having my profile up, I got a match. Of course I didn’t expect the conversation that I had to take place nor did I find it at all appeasing so I unmatched my first match of the night.

Within the next 24 hours, I had over 7 super-likes and around 10 matches. Out of these matches I got two phone numbers, a dinner date with a friend that matched with me (as a joke) and a lot of compliments. What I found most interesting is how many guys asked me either, A) What I could provide for them sexually, or B) How tall I was. Oh, the “chivalry”.

Ladies, if you’re looking for your prince charming, odds are you aren’t going to find him from a dating app, but what you will find is guys who have hilarious bio’s, some sleaze balls that are only wanting one thing, or some guys that are just there to see how many girls they could match with.

Save the time it takes to download that app, and go to your local coffee shop or your school library.

Odds are the guys there will be far more interesting than the guy messaging you about how tall your are or “what that mouth do”
