Fall In “Love” With Lana Del Rey’s New Song

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Lana Del Rey is one of the most unique artists on the music scene. Her voice is calm and beautiful, while her lyrics are usually dark and somber. Her music focuses on the problems of youth including broken hearts, depression, and insecurities. This has made Lana extremely popular with young people who can relate to her lyrics, and still find inspiration from the way she creates art through music. Her latest single, Love, has her same beautiful style paired with lyrics that are potentially her most upbeat yet.

The song discusses all the stress that can come about being a young adult, but reminds us to not get too overwhelmed, and just focus on the good things in life. With the world in a state of instability, it’s nice to see an artist reaching out to her fans like this, especially one who knows that many of her fans rely on her music as a pick-me-up. This positive message carries over into the music video as well, and is one of the only Lana Del Rey videos where you see her smile.

The music itself sounds more like Lana’s earlier albums, “Born to Die” and “Paradise”, which are also her most popular albums. Lana told BBC Radio that her new album will be “more socially aware” and also said that “as the climate kept on getting more heated politically, I found lyrically everything was just directed towards that, so because of that the sound got really updated and I felt like it was more wanting to talk to the younger side of the audience that I have.”

Lana got political on Twitter when she announced that she would be joining fellow witches to cast a spell on Donald Trump on February 24th, March 26th, April 24th, and May 23rd. This, of course, got a big reaction from her fans who love her for her unique quirkiness.
