8 Signs You Go to a School Where the Weather is Super Unpredictable

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Richmond chapter.

If you’re like me and you go to a school where you couldn’t classify the weather type if your life depended on it, these will probably sound familiar.

1.  You check the weather every day…sometimes multiple times a day.

It’s too risky to rely on any sensible assumptions about what the weather could or might be like because that would make your life too easy, right?  Instead, you check the weather when you wake up, before leaving your room and probably any other time you plan to exit from your room throughout the day because who knows?  You might need to change your outfit YET AGAIN.  But even so…

2.  You somehow make the mistake of dressing for the same weather as yesterday, and end up with many regrets.

You did everything right…the weather app promised you a brisk, partly-cloudy day, you’re feeling prepared and ready to take on what you expect to be a day that somewhat resembles winter (it’s February, after all) when suddenly it’s 75 DEGREES???  So…

3.  You start the day freezing and are sweating by your second class.

You either have to keep changing your outfit or just accept the fact that you’re going to be somewhat of a mess for the rest of the day.  You’ve already tried the whole “planning ahead” thing, and just look at how that worked out.

4.  You experience all four seasons in one week.

On Monday you’re tearing through your closet searching for where you tucked away your summer clothes.  Tuesday, the winter coat is back in action and snow is in the forecast?  Wednesday, a nice brisk autumn breeze accompanies your cross-campus walk.  Thursday, it’s allergies.  Friday…who even knows anymore?

5.  Layers…?

You struggle to either create an outfit that is both trendy and practical for the ever-changing temperatures or…

6.  You give up on looking cute and just wear gym clothes everywhere.

At some point it’s just too difficult and no matter what you do you can’t seem to get it right.  At least this way you’re not setting yourself up for failure, and you’re in somewhat of a position of adaptability.  Who knows?  Maybe you’ll even feel inspired to go to the gym, too!

7.  Your dorm room is always the exact opposite of the temperature you want it to be.

It’s SUPPOSED to be winter, so the school is pumping the heat as one might expect mid-February.  Except the weather shows otherwise, and it may as well be a mid-summer’s day, and all you want is to find sanctuary from the shocking heat of outdoors.

8.  You start taking your allergy medicine in February.

You can never be too cautious…the flowers could bloom at any moment!  Spring doesn’t exactly have a reliable start date.  In fact, it may have started a few weeks ago?

But despite all of the struggles, when you hear about the blizzards that your friends at other schools are constantly dealing with, you know that it’s worth it and you wouldn’t trade.  And, hey, at least it keeps you on your toes!
