Confessions of a College Shopaholic

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

Living alone in college has made me realize many things about myself; but, thanks to the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic, I recently discovered that I have a huge problem.  Throughout the entire movie, I was sort of in denial about my discovery because I never thought I could get as bad as Rebecca Bloomwood, but when I had the long painful conversation about my “expenses” to my parents, I realized I am in fact a shopaholic. It really is unintentional but, when I start I just can’t stop. My motto is when you look good you feel good, therefore buying those sneakers that are extremely overpriced but so so so beautiful is definitely worth it because in the long run they’ll make me feel good. If you look at it my way, the shoes are sort of an investment that will help me later on in life. There really is no better feeling than when you wear an outfit and you know you look good in it. Life just seems better that way, so yes although I am a shopaholic and probably should start budgeting my money, shopping is a way to get through this weird transition in my life and “take the edge off” as some say; and, it may even help me pick a major in the long run.
