Relaxation Tips for the Hard Weeks of College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

It’s that time of year when things can be a little difficult. Okay, who am I kidding? It can be very difficult. All the students can taste summer break but of course we have to struggle in order to enjoy it. Personally, the last couple of weeks have been hard on me and my friends. Here are some of my tips that I practice in order to stay sane!

1. Sleep

No matter the amount of work you are struggling to deal with, sleep is the key to success. Whether that means taking a few naps or just falling asleep completely, your body needs the rest.

2. Spending time with friends

Don’t get me wrong, friends can definitely be a pain in the butt every once in awhile. However, they are the family that you get to hand pick yourself so they will be there for you no matter what. With all the stresses of college it’s nice to have a laugh with friends or watch a movie.

3. Calling family back home

Excusing the really cheesy picture, family is also there for you and will love you all the time (they kinda have too). I know whenever I’m having a bad week or day it always helps calling or texting my parents, grandma and older brother. Even though they are far away, whatever that means for people, it’s nice hearing from them and for them to hear from you!

4. Netflix

Of course we are here to focus on getting our degree, but there are times when every student deserves a much needed Netflix break. Plus, your favorite shows are always calling you.

5. Food

Last but not least, FOOD! It’s a basic necessity for living, plus it is everywhere we look while on campus. College can be a very stressful place for everyone, which leads to students eating comfort food. Pizza, pasta, burgers, fries, doughnuts…. the list could go on and on. You can eat it all! Just remember to eat some fruits and veggies and don’t skip out on the gym as well.
