Her Campus (HC): For those who haven’t heard of your RSO, what is the Wyoming Honors Organization?
WHO President Kelsey Wilburs: The Wyoming Honors Organization, better known as WHO, is a student organization on campus that provides a community to students, specifically students of the Honors Program. Our focus is to provide a place where students can socialize while serving the Honors Program and Laramie Community.
HC: Who can join WHO?
WHO Pres: Any University of Wyoming student can join. We are the student organization for the Honors Program, but being in honors is not a requirement.
HC: When do you meet?
WHO Pres: We meet Monday nights at 7pm in the Honors House on Fraternity Mall and 15th street, anyone is welcome.
HC: What kind of events does WHO put on?
WHO Pres: We have put on many events. Our organization does everything from events for WHO members, Honors Program events, campus wide events, and large scale community events like the Easter Egg Hunt. WHO votes on the awards given to professors of the Honors Program every spring. We have held Puppy Rentals on Prexy’s pasture during finals week, which we are doing again this year on May 9th.
HC: Tell me about the Easter Egg Hunt!
WHO Pres: The Easter Egg Hunt was originally a collaboration between the Wyoming Honors Organization and the Non-Traditional Student Council. The first year, less than 200 children participated. Last year we had close to 3,000 people. The event is for all children in Laramie or anyone else who would like to join. It gives children from all backgrounds an equal opportunity to celebrate the holiday. This event gets support from many other student organizations, honors students, and Greek life; without these amazing volunteers this event would not be possible.
HC: How can students get involved with the Easter Egg Hunt and/or WHO?
WHO Pres: Students can volunteer to help with the event by emailing WHO President, Kelsey Wilbers, at kwilbers@uwyo.edu. There are still plenty of spots to join our team. We would love your help.
HC: Anything else you would like to say about WHO:
WHO Pres: I am beyond proud of this organization. Our members are extremely dedicated, hardworking students. The members have shown me what it means to be leader. We have grown tremendously in the last three years since I have been at UW. My college experience would not be nearly as fun and I would not have found some of the best friends without WHO.
