Five minutes past nine in the morning in the Bill Bryson Library on the first day back of the term and already a close friend and I were struggling to find a seat. Goodness me!
Having had difficultly to find a seat in the library during the summative season at the end of the Epiphany term, I thought that I was prepared for the scramble for a seat during the forthcoming exam season. Clearly, I was not.
You would never think that a seat in the Billy B would become so highly sought after! Students are abandoning a wild night of partying in Klute for the tranquil and industrious setting of the library.
Having succeeded in locating seats, my friend and I set to work, the spare chair to the right of me holding my bag of books, as I usually do. Before I knew it however, a student arrived and demanded whether this spot was taken. My bag was quickly relocated and the student sat down. Before long, it was my time to leave and very shortly after my seat was taken by another grateful student. Seats go like hot cakes! I reckon that if a bidding war began for seats in the Billy B, there would be takers in fact!
Since this first day of term, I have opted to revise in my room in college, and if necessary head to the library in the evening, when it is a little quieter. This is partly to avoid the rush for seats and also as I find the atmosphere fraught with tension and anxiety. I also like to time my revision in order to ensure that I study studiously for an hour or two before enjoying a pause and then beginning to revise once more, and the noise of a timer would only serve to annoy others in the library.
Thus far, I have been working well in my room and so I hope that my hard work will be rewarded.
