6 Instagram Accounts for the Quirky Fashion Lover

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marist chapter.

I’m sure that many fashion-conscious women can agree that our Instagram feeds have become a continuous wave of the same street style photos, fashion editorials, and runway shots.  I’m sure we all follow an excess of designers, models, and influencers that keep our feeds stocked full of fashion.

The hundred or so accounts that I follow keep me occupied any time I need to indulge in a little bit of outfit envy or find some style inspiration.

I find myself scrolling down my feed, seeing the same iterations of street style trends but on different people, the same runway shots but of different designers. That’s not to say that it isn’t what I want, because it’s exactly what I signed up for when I clicked “follow” on maybe too many accounts, but sometimes a little variation is necessary.

Here are six of my favorite fashion Instagram accounts that don’t fit the traditional mold. From implementing humor to creating artful images, these accounts provide a refreshing change of pace. Check them out, and I promise your sartorial needs with be satisfied.

1. Dressed to Match (@dressedtomatch)

Michelle Satterlee, a gallery director from Sacramento, created this account after she accidentally matched her Diane von Furstenberg dress to one of the paintings on display at a gallery opening. Now she posts outfits curated to match with paintings, sculptures, and art across the world daily. The resemblances are uncanny, as well as immensely satisfying. For admirers of color, pattern, and outfit coordination, Dressed to Match is a dream.

2. @freddiemade (Freddie Smithson)

Freddie Smithson, a freelance content designer and art director fills his feed with humorous graphic designs and photo-shopped parodies of designer brands, public figures, and high fashion. Donald Trump and the Queen of England are frequent subjects of his images, as well as plays on designer brand logos. This account is for those who love a bit of humor.

3. @ihavethisthingwithfloors

Those looking for fashion inspiration don’t always have to find it in clothes. Sometimes something as simple as wall decor, a color pallette, or a patterned floor can spark creativity. Floors are a great place to start. While they’re both visually interesting and immensely cool, the floors featured on this account provide a much needed break from street style without compromising the style.

4. @artfullyawear (Ariel Adkins)

Ariel Adkins is a designer for Artfully Awear, a movement that creates clothing inspired by art from all over the world. She shares her one-of-a-kind pieces that “recreate art in wearable form” on her Instagram and blog. Both beautiful and inspiring, her work imitates art. Different from your traditional fashion blog, Adkins engages the viewer with art and fashion in a unique and creative way.

5. @siduations

Known for creating spoofs on high fashion, Siduations provides much needed humorous perspective on the fashion world. Sidney Prawatyotin’s photoshop masterpieces never disappoint, whether they feature a model from Burberry’s runway performing in the Nutcracker Ballet, or one from Oscar de la Renta immersed in a paintball tournament.

6. @manrepeller

For those looking for fashion that doesn’t take itself too seriously, look no further than Man Repeller. Started as a personal blog in 2010 by Leandra Medine, it has since blown up into a brand renowned for its humor, fashion sense, and ability to take on serious topics without losing its personality. The creators write from a “place of openness and humor, with the conviction that “an interest in fashion doesn’t minimize one’s intellect.” It is certainly a blog worth checking out above all others.
