Stages of Finding Parking on Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

Stage One: Being Afraid to Leave Your Current Parking Spot

Trying to find parking is scarily annoying, but it’s also a scary feeling having to go somewhere and give up your current spot because you KNOW that it’ll be taken by the time you get back.

Stage Two: Remaining Positive

On the way back to campus, people can’t help but think, “I REALLY hope there’s a spot”. Because let’s admit it, having to park in a lot that’s far from your residence SUCKS. There has to be a spot, there just has to.

Stage Three: Cruising Around Looking for a Spot

This is the moment where you realize that you are probably not going to find a good parking spot. You start to lose hope, you become frustrated and you find yourself circling the same area for about 10 minutes. You think of all of the complaints you want to make to your University regarding building more parking, but let’s face it – even then you probably won’t find a spot.

Stage Four: Possible Spot

This phase should be known as the “gotcha” stage. This is when you see a possible spot – so you get excited, maybe even do a celebratory dance only to find that a tiny car is sneakily parked there. DANG YOU, TINY CARS!!!!!

Stage Five: ACTUALLY Finding a Spot

Your level of frustration is increasing when suddenly… you see… an ACTUAL SPOT. So you whip your car around and speed on over, and SUCCESS!! You have a spot!!! Time to brag about the fact that you were able to get a good parking spot.

And then you realize that you have something else to do soon and will have to move your car and suffer through this process all over again.

But until that day, it’s time to celebrate that you don’t have to walk very far to and from your car! WOOHOO!!!!
