Fun Crafts for the Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at HWS chapter.

Fall is a great time to sit, get cozy, and make some crafts. One of my favorite things to do is to relax to hang out and do crafts. Crafts are a great way to clear your mind when things are feeling hectic or are stressing you out. So sit back, grab a nice warm drink, and start making some of these great fall crafts.

1.    Embroidery

Embroidery is definitely one of my favorite crafts; it’s a great way to clear your mind and is really relaxing. It can be challenging, but can be learned really quickly with a little bit of practice. Get a kit at the craft store to make a fall scene, or find a pattern online that you like. You can use this as a fun way to relax and create a new decoration all in one!

2.    Make Friendship Bracelets

A few weeks ago my friends and decided that it would be fun to make some friendship bracelets and it was honestly so much fun. We grabbed some embroidery floss and started braiding. This craft is so much fun and really easy, it’s a nice low commitment craft for when you don’t have much time, but still want to do something to relax.

3.    Crochet

Crocheting is a great craft to do on a chilly fall day. Make a scarf or a hat for the upcoming winter. Although this is a fun craft there is a learners curve to crocheting. If this is too hard, you can try loom knitting to make similar things that are a little easier and faster to make.

4.    DIY Halloween Decorations

Halloween is right around the corner, so why not make some decorations while you’re crafting. You could make some painted pumpkins or some spooky decorations.

5.    Quilting

Quilting is a long project and a big commitment, but is a really fun craft. Make a quilt that’s fall themed, or make one to keep you warm this winter.

6.    Felting

One craft that I did all the time as a kid was felting wool. I grew up on a farm and we would use the wool from our animals to make fun felt creations. Felting is a very easy craft all you need is wool and some soap and water. You can make some cute bookmarks or felted soaps, which is a bar of soap with a pretty built in washcloth.

7.    Fall Garland

Garland is a great fall decoration for a dorm. Take some string and some fake leaves and other fall themed things to make a cute decoration to make your room look cute and ready for the fall.

8.    Quilling

Quilling is a really cool craft. It involves cutting paper in different ways to make decorations. The cut and swirled paper can be assembled to make beautiful designs and pictures.

9.    Painted Picture Frames

One quick and easy craft is to decorate picture frames. Pick a cheap frame and paint the frame with fall-themed designs to make a cute place to keep some of your favorite memories.

Hopefully some of these cute decor and crafting ideas give you something to do to get into the fall spirit; and ideally they help you relax as well!
