Dear Jimbo Fisher and the entire FSU football team,
You may not always be first on the field, but you’re always first in my heart. It’s been a rough season to say the least, and with it, a lot of people have expressed EXTREME and often overly critical harsh comments toward you. Despite the noon games and the continuous losses, there is something to be said about your continued energy and drive. Losing against Alabama, Miami, Louisville, Boston College or any other team, doesn’t matter (I mean it totally does logistically, but we’re there’s more to life than that). Yes, I have commitment and trust issues, but you’re definitely the exception. I think we all have to take this season as a learning venture. We’ve learned that our team has potential, despite the odds against us. We beat Syracuse, and that win definitely counts as something (even if it is “just Syracuse”).
Football at FSU is an entire culture within itself. It’s more than just the games, it’s the tailgates, the ambiance and the entire school spirit. Win or lose, that comradery doesn’t die. Almost every FSU fan can agree that there is no feeling greater than standing in Doak, despite the sweat on our skin and potential tears in our eyes. There is something to be said about a school that can continue to support and cheer on their team despite what’s on the scoreboard. There is something to be said about the ability of a team to change the school and unite everyone.

Game days are still an incredible experience for everyone to be able to go out and be a part of something so much greater than can be described. Getting to see the Marching Chiefs, everyone dressed in their favorite FSU apparel and cheering on our favorite team makes Saturdays complete. Last season, we were a “second-half team,” now we’re just a “team,” but trying to qualify your abilities over past wins isn’t going to fix anything. We have to remember that truly, you win some, you lose some.
So, don’t feel discouraged over the losses. Know that you have an entire stadium full of fans (and more) that are cheering you on. True fans will be there through the wins and through the losses, even with half-shut eyes. What I’m trying to say is that, win or lose, we’re all Seminoles. Sure, winning definitely feels great for everyone, but trash talking a team for having one bad season is not going to accomplish anything. If anything, this season has motivated all of us fans to become even more attentive to the team because there is more at stake.
Plus, it’s not like UF is doing all that hot either, so there is definitely a silver lining.
