What’s your favorite thing about Fordham? The community among the English department

If you could give any advice to other Rams, what would it be? Embrace the core and use it to explore other interests and disciplines! You have to take it, so might as well make the most of it.

Best class you’ve taken at Fordham? Nonfiction Creative Writing with Elizabeth Stone. She’s the best professor Fordham University has, and an extremely valuable resource to anyone interested in creative writing and journalism.

What are your plans for after graduation? I have a couple different paths I’m still exploring. I came to New York to write musicals, which is still my ultimate goal. In the meantime, I’d be happy to work on environmental journalism, theater journalism, literary management, or editing non fiction work at a publishing house.

Lets cut to the chase, how does it feel to go viral? Really, very, enormously strange. My favorite part is all of the angry men coming for me on my Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook telling me how I destroyed Christmas with feminism. One guy told me that people like me rip our society apart “brick by brick,” which I gotta say, it’s a pretty shaky foundation in the first place if an enthusiastic tweet about arctic animal husbandry can dismantle it.

What was it like when JK Rowling retweeted your tweet? I screamed and laid on the ground. I didn’t even know it had happened! Twitter has a horrible notification system for tweets that get popular like this, so I have no way of knowing who retweets it unless someone tells me. Luckily, my cousin happened to mention it, she figured I already knew.

What’s the craziest thing that’s happened since your tweet blew up? Two things. The first is that my tweet was on Good Morning America! The second is that I actually got my first paid writing job from all this craziness! The New Statesman reached out to me after they saw my tweet and asked me to write an article for them, which is live here.

Metro North or Ram Van? Ram Van.

Zoo or Botans? Botanical garden. Zoos, unless they’re done very right, make me very sad :-( Botanical garden is also a great place to write!

Favorite off-campus food? Shanghai Cafe Deluxe in Chinatown!

What’s your go-to karaoke song? “Man! I Feel like a Woman” by Shania Twain. I will karaoke this anytime, anywhere.

What three celebrities (dead or alive) would you want in your clique? Molly Ringwald, Winona Ryder, and Demi Lovato.

Christina is a member of the class of 2018 at Fordham University, pursuing a major in Communications and Media Studies. Some of her favorite things include Sex and the City re-runs, dogs and pretending Zayn is still a member of One Direction.
