5 Things You Should do Before New Year’s Eve

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

Between the excitement of Christmas and the excitement of New Year’s Eve, there’s usually some downtime, often spent relaxing, eating leftovers, and watching Netflix, which is fine! We all need a break every now and then; However, there are a few things you should make sure you get done before New Year’s Eve comes around. You’ll thank yourself later!

1. Pamper yourself a little – whether you get a sparkly manicure or try out the new face mask you got for Christmas, giving yourself a little extra beauty treatment will help you to look and feel your best at NYE celebrations. It will also give you an extra confidence boost that will carry into the new year.

2. Plan out your resolutions for the new year – It’s tough to achieve your goals if you don’t have a plan in place to do it. If you already have your new year’s resolutions set and a plan for accomplishing them before you get caught up in all the excitement of New Year’s Eve, it will make it easier to actually start working on them right away on January 1st.

3. Make New Year’s Eve plans – Perhaps the worst stress you could possibly experience during the holidays when you’ve finished your finals and have no other major problems would be to wake up on the morning of the 31st and still have no clue what you’re doing that night for New Year’s Eve. Save yourself the trouble and make sure you’ve figured out your plans in advance so that you don’t end up frantically texting all your friends at the last minute.

4. Pack your purse – If you’re going out on New Year’s Eve, get all your “going out stuff” together the day before. This will help you avoid any further stress from realizing 5 minutes before you leave that you can’t find your favourite clutch or you don’t have any cash and have no time to stop and get some.

5. Clean your room – You don’t want to spend the last few hours of 2017 or the first few hours of 2018 to be spent cleaning. Clean your room in advance so you can wake up to a neat, clutter-free room on January 1st.

Happy New Year!
