Kayleigh Edwards ’21

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

HerCampus: Thank you for meeting with me today, on the last day of finals! How does it feel to be done with your first semester as a college student?

Kayleigh Edwards: Absolutely! It is a true relief to be done. It’s like a check point accomplished, proving that I can actually do this and that I’m a real college student.

HC: Was the transition from high to college easy for you?

KE: I thought the academic side of it was very easy since DePauw resembles my high school in academics wise. But going from a large family and constantly being surrounded by them was a major transition to just living with one roommate. It was hard, but it’s fun now.

HC: What are some of your favorite things about college?

KE: I like the freedom and that everyone here is treated like adults, rather than in high school when you could be 18 and still treated like a child.

HC: Is there anything you miss that you can’t find here at DePauw?

KE: I miss my family most because I just became an aunt, so I mainly get pictures of my niece rather than actually be there.

HC: If there is one thing you could have done differently this past semester, what would it be?

KE: I found difficulty in my psychology class. If I could, I would drop that.

HC: What are you most looking forward to in the next years to come?

KE: I’m looking forward to all the memories I have yet to make with my best friends, Kaelyn and Natalie, and the friends I haven’t met yet. I’m excited for all the opportunities that DePauw has to offer me.

HC: Thank you so much for meeting today! Have a fantastic winter break!

KE: Aww, thank you so much! You too!
