Spotify playlists you need in your life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DCU chapter.

Music is powerful – it can shape you as you grow up, it can change your mood, and it can create a movement in the form of fans that is strong enough to start a revolution. But let’s be honest, most of us just want some good tunes to bop to, and that is what I am here to provide.

Please note I only chose playlists made by Spotify, but nothing beats a playlist you put together yourself, so I urge you to throw one together!

So, first on our list is my absolute go-to playlist:

Playlist Name: Cheesy Hits.

For all your S Club 7, Westlife, and Smash mouth needs. This is the happiest most nostalgic and downright beautiful playlist on the planet. Just listen to it some Saturday morning and try to be sad. It’s impossible. Next.

Playlist Name: 70s FM Radio Rider

You know those songs that you don’t really remember ever hearing for the first time, but your older family members know all the words to them and eventually the whole lot of you are swaying in the car roaring to Hold the Line by Toto? That is this playlist. It is everything you ever need to feel like you’re living in a sepia toned world, and I love it.

Playlist Name: All Good

Moving away from the goldies, here’s a playlist that puts all the good hits that weren’t too overplayed to listen to ever again in one place. Stronger by Kanye West, Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heroes, and the latest classic New Rules by Dua Lipa. It’s literally “All Good”. I mean come on, it’s got Mr. Brightside.

Playlist Name: The PMS Playlist

This is HerCampus after all, so I must give one out to Mother Nature’s natural plight upon uterus-owners. But this playlist is really good! If you can envision scrolling through Twitter or the like while chewing on some noodles and listening to So Sick by Ne-Yo, or walking through campus feeling a little pissed off listening to No Scrubs by TLC, then you can brush your teeth listening to Telephone by Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, all while listening to this playlist. You deserve it.

Playlist Name: Femme Fatale

Our final playlist is for every single woman who wants to rekindle with their inner superhero, every single no-bullshit accepting feminist who wants to walk like a boss and glare at danger with confidence. It’s also good for a nice bop around your room while loving yourself. Love yourself, girl. You’re a cutie.

That’s all for now folks! I hope I’ve provided you with enough to keep your eardrums satiated. Remember, the best playlist to listen to is the one that you’ve made yourself – the one that encompasses every facet of music that speaks to you. No harm in trying.
