Dear Mr. Valentine,

When you wake up and find this letter at your doorstep, please don’t hesitate to pick it up, I promise it’s not an overdue light bill. Stretch to the morning sunrise and drink some coffee to wake you up from the long night you spent in search of me.

You see, I’ve been sitting in my ball gown for quite some time now and you’ve yet to show up with a bouquet of red roses in your hands. Is your GPS not working? It’s five before midnight already, but perhaps you’ve got my address wrong. You take a left at McDonalds and head straight toward the boulevard until you reach the red brick house with a palm tree in its corner. It’s the tallest one, you won’t miss it.

I’ll be the one with the white laced dress and the matching silver slippers; the same slippers I’m going to hate myself for wearing by the end of the night. My hair pinned up in 40s curls, elegantly complimented by a ruby diamond necklace I’ll pretend you gave me. My eyes, the ones subtly decorated in the shade of your favorite color, and with a pop of red lips softly calling your name.

We’ll go on a date, somewhere isolated or secluded. Not the movies or your typical restaurant. Somewhere I can hear you, where it’s just you and I and the moonlight. A place only known to us. One that will hold our laughter and every embarrassing secret we’ve kept. A place where we can dance to the music no one hears, playing within the wind. I want to remember the picnic lying next to us and how the night ended with a simple, gentle touch of our lips. A magical night, indeed.

You will think of us when you pass this place on your way back home and call me the next morning in hopes of repeating it. It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day, if I do say so myself.

Now, just think of how perfect our time could be if you’d hurry up and find me?

Love,

Your future sweet valentine
