Extra Love For Our Furry Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

I have to admit, there are times where I don’t put as much of time into doing things for my dog as I should. By this I mean going on longer walks, going on fun outings, surprising my pup with a new toy, etc. Little things our furry friends do such as greeting us at the door like they haven’t seen us in days, cuddling up next to us and taking a nap and their excitement when you’re playing with their favorite toy- these are the best. It’s the little things they do that really make me think that they deserve special treatment more often.

Our pets literally depend on us for food, water, fun, everything. They adore us and show it in everything they do. It’s up to us to make their lives amazing, and you’ll have just as much fun doing things for them.

The other day, I took my dog to the beach for the first time because I felt like I was not being the best “mom” and he deserved it. Let me tell you, I’ve never seen him so happy! There was this innocent pure bliss radiating off of him, and it only made me want to do these things more frequently for him.

The beach, longer walks, the dog park, car rides and special treats, these are all ways you can show your pups the amount of love you have for them just a little bit more than usual.

It’s unfair that dogs, or any other pet, can’t live as long as humans. But, with the time we have with them, make it worthwhile. They show us unconditional love, so this is just a reminder to do the same.

xoxo,

Adri
