I have been interested in psychics for a while now, mainly, because of their unbelievable ability to produce accurate, minute details about a person (dead or alive), the future and the past out of what seems like thin air. I have always contemplated going to a psychic reading and finally, as a birthday present to myself, I went through with it. Even if nothing particularly substantial came out of the reading, I still believed it would be a really unique experience.
I was led into a bright little room that smelled of essential oils and was seated in a comfortable chair. The psychic, Christine, instructed me to take some time alone to call on any family members I wished to come through during our session. After five minutes she re-entered the room and began the reading…
1. From the beginning, she described specific details of my life.
The first thing she picked up on and started to describe was my childhood home, my town, my high school and how much I wanted to get away from all of that. This was all unprompted. She was so spot on that it was really overwhelming to me. Then she began to talk about my boyfriend, his relationship with his dad, my friends on campus, professors, and a bunch of really accurate things about my interpersonal relationships.
2. She predicted my future.
I can’t really comment on the accuracy of this portion of the reading as of yet. She was pretty vague about my future but she did see me doing some writing and more creative types of work, moving around and traveling a lot to places such as Chicago, California, Florida, etc. because of my intense desire to escape my hometown.
3. She helped me get in contact with my grandparents.
This was the part of the reading that was most intriguing and mind-blowing. From the moment Christine met with me she warned me that a spirit was there with me. She showed me the hair on her arms that stood straight up and the goosebumps all over them. First, my grandmother came through and Christine began to discuss the circumstances of her death, how I felt after her passing, the way she looked, the way she smelled, memories of singing to me as a baby, and even about the time she went with me to get my ears pierced as a child. I was happy to be reminded of the good times and of my special relationship with her but also sad remembering that I never got to say goodbye. It all felt insanely real. Then, unexpectedly, my grandfather who died before I was born came through. She immediately picked up that he had been the war, suffered from PTSD and committed suicide. Christine told me that he wanted me to know that he was sorry and he loves me but it was all too much for him.
4. She read my tarot cards.
The tarot card reading was really cool to me because I’ve only ever seen them read in movies and pop culture. However, I wasn’t completely sold on the validity of this method because it is based largely on interpretation, and her reading during this portion sounded vague and repetitive.
5. She told me I was an empath.
An empath is someone who has a sort of “paranormal ability” to feel and detect the emotions and mental states of others. At first, this sounded a little strange but then it started to make sense as I reflected on myself and my sensitivity to others. Christine told me that this is why I sometimes feel overwhelmed when I’m around large groups or in loud, party situations because the emotions there are so intense. I could definitely see how this was applicable in my life at home as well. Although it may not be “paranormal” like the definition suggests, I could definitely see myself possessing these qualities.
Overall, my first psychic experience was amazing. I learned a lot about myself, my relationships and my grandparents that I would not necessarily have known without Christine’s help. I highly recommend this experience and I think it’s particularly useful for seniors who are set to graduate in the spring. A lot of change is coming our way and the affirmations I received through this psychic reading were a big relief.
