How to Have a Spooktacular October

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cincinnati chapter.

Take a walk outside and embrace the chilly winds, because it’s officially fall! Now is the time for you to dig out those combat boots, squeeze into that fuzzy sweater and finally drink a pumpkin spice latte! In order for us to really celebrate the season, we must go out and find new adventures. Below, I’ve composed a few of my favorite places to explore in Cincinnati. You can go with friends, family or even make it a cute date!

1. Neiderman Family Farm Fall Festival

This is a fun Fall Festival at Neiderman Family Farms! Price of Admission is $12 and it includes fun for the whole family! They offer hayrides, a corn maze and even an animal exhibit! Other attractions included in the ticket are a climbing web and tug-o-war.

2. USS Nightmare

This is a horror-filled ship located in Newport, Kentucky, and according to the website, not that many people make it through! Tickets range from $20 (general admission) to $75 (season pass), and there are two options aboard the USS Nightmare: You can go to the regular one, from 7 to 11 p.m., or the “Captain’s Extreme Tour” from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Take your pick.

3. Halloween Haunt at Kings Island

If you want to get scared, Halloween Haunt is the place to go! Tickets are $32 if you buy them online. There are actors wearing terrifying costumes (who are not allowed to touch you!) and you can still ride the attractions at Kings Island.

4. The Dent Schoolhouse

The Dent Schoolhouse is a haunted schoolhouse attraction located in Cincinnati, and it seems to be pretty terrifying! Price of admission ranges from $22-25. a Fast Pass ticket is the cost of general admission plus $20, while a Front of the Line ticket is the cost of general admission plus $30.

5. HallZOOween

HallZOOween is put on every weekend in October by the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden! Admission is free with Zoo Admission, and if you plan to trick-or-treat with the animals (yes, you can do that!), you have to provide your own treat bag.

6. The Haunted Brewery tour

This tour is perfect for anyone who wants a side of spooky along with a historical brewing tour! Tickets are $25, and there are five different stories included in this tour. The catch? One of them is fake, and it’s up to you to figure out which one isn’t real!

7. Findlay Market’s Fall Food Fest

On October 21st, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Findlay Market will be having a Fall Food Fest with vendors ranging from pierogis to jewelry. Tickets are one for $2, six for $10, or 15 for $20.

8. Land of Illusion

Last but not least is Land of Illusion. Here, there are six award-winning attractions! On Thursday and Sunday, online general admission is $29.99 (The gate price is $35), Friday is $44.99 (The gate price is $55), and on Saturday, the online general admission is $49.99 (with the gate price being $55).

Fall sadly won’t last forever, so take this opportunity to get lost in some corn mazes and get spooked!
