Dear Senior,

By now I’m sure you have looked at so many different colleges and began writing your applications. I know… life is scary right now, but don’t worry too much. Here are a few tips that I wish someone would have told me my senior year.

1. Listen to yourself

Parents can be a big influence on college decisions. They could tell you which schools to apply to and what order they should be in, but don’t let that influence you. You should be the one making these decisions because it is YOU who is going to college for four years. I know some parents can be very influential and firm about the schools they want you to go to, so listen to yourself but don’t necessarily turn them down. After all, they love you to death and just want the best for you.

2. Make a Pros and Cons list

This really helped me out because I was able to see what I liked about each school and what I disliked. I think pros and cons really help because you are able to have an overview look on each school. If your parents are very involved in your college process, take their opinions and try to understand what they are trying to tell you.

3. Enjoy senior year!

Time literally flies by so fast, especially second semester, so enjoy spending time with family and friends! Now being in college I realized how lucky I was to have grown up in my family, have the opportunities I did and have the amazing friends that supported me. Since I LITERALLY moved across the country, I miss my family so much and I wish I could’ve spent more time with them when I had the free time. When your friends asks you to hang out with them even though you don’t want, go out! Try to have the time of your life because even though high school can get old and boring, there are some weird moments when I miss high school.

Every single moment you live in your life is unique and those spontaneous decisions you make with your friends make up for some of the best memories of your life. I kid you not, enjoy high school and the comfort you find with the activities you do, and with the friends and family you have. Savor the moments because you never know what could happen in the future.
