Consider Spending a Day In Downtown Crossing

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

If you need something to do this weekend, try going to Downtown Crossing! If you are on the green line, get off at Park Street station. Downtown crossing has many great places to shop, eat, and explore!

Besides the Corner Mall in Downtown which has a lot of shops, there is a large Macy’s and a Primark. If you have never been to Primark I would definitely recommend going. Every time I have brought a friend there they love it and want to go again! It is similar to a Forever 21, but with more products and greater deals. This one has four floors of men’s, women’s, and children’s clothes, shoes, accessories, beauty products, and home decor. They always keep up with the latest trends, but also always have basics at an inexpensive prices. There is also an H&M, Forever 21, TJ Maxx, and a Marshall’s if you are looking for more mainstream fashion brands. Another great place to check out is Brattle Bookshop on West Street. They have books for any interest ranging from $1 to $7. They have displays of books both outside and inside. I personally found books on my home state and about my major, which I thought was pretty neat and so did my friends that I went with!

If you are looking for a nice little pick me up if your afternoon travels, Cafe Nero on Washington and the Thinking Cup on Tremont St. are both great places for a cup of coffee and a little snack. If you are looking for a full meal for lunch or dinner, Good Life has a bunch of great options for everyone. If you need dessert after try Sweet on School Street for some tasty treats!

Downtown Crossing also shares the shops with the beginning of the Freedom Trail, that starts on Court Street at the Old State House, which was the site of the Boston Massacre. Then, you can head over to the Old South Meeting House on the corner of Washington street and Milk Street. It became an organizing point for the Boston Tea Party because it was the largest building in Boston at the time.

Other great places to check out are Boston Commons and Public Garden, especially on a nice fall day, to either relax with your book and coffee you purchased or to take some pictures. I know it is always one of my favorite spots to take photos! If you are looking for a little entertainment in the evening there is the AMC on Tremont Street to catch a movie or Paramount Theater to catch a show! There is also an Escape the Room on West Street if you are looking to have fun with a group of friends. Downtown Crossing has lots of options for shopping, entertainment, and dining, so consider hopping off the train in Boston for a quick trip or a whole day!
