How To Get Into The Holiday Spirit With Exams Right Around The Corner

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

With exams right around the corner, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day struggle of writing papers and prepping for exams — and as good as that sounds, it also means that it’s just as easy to forget that it’s the holiday season

Yes, it’s the season for exams, but it’s also the season to play some holiday jams (or put up a tree, light the candles, and deck the halls with boughs of holly). The time is now, and we can’t let exams and the end of the semester struggles push that to the side because if we do, we might actually lose our minds. That being said, this time of year is the time to find some sort of middle ground, and figure out how the average college student can get into the holiday spirit with exams right the corner.

First things first, we have to intersperse our study sessions with a little holiday fun. That might mean putting down the books after a few hours to bake some holiday cookies. It might also mean watching a Hallmark Christmas movie after a long day in the library. It could even mean studying with your favorite holiday playlist in the background. In any case, if we don’t break up our studying with a little holiday cheers, then I think we might all lose our mind, just a little — or worse, we might forget that it’s the holiday season at all.

It’s also the perfect time of year to go ice skating, go to town tree lights, see holiday shows, go to holiday parades, or do all sorts of other fun holiday-themed things. I know you’re probably thinking that you don’t have time for anything like that, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned since I’ve been in college, it’s that you have to take a break sometimes, or you’re not going to enjoy life quite as much as you should.

The holiday season has always been one of my favorite times of year, and for the last few years I’ve found that the stress of exams has started to take that away from me, but the cycle stops now. I love college, but I love the holidays too, and this year I am going to enter the season with love for both, not just for one or the other.

How do you add a little holiday fun to your exam season?
