Cook or Bake

Take the opportunity while you’re at home to make a home cooked meal or bake those cookies you’ve been dying to try. While you’re at school you don’t have as much freedom to cook or bake something whenever you want. So, enjoy the home cooked meals and desserts as much as you can before you go back to dining hall food.

Read a book

Reading isn’t everyone’s favorite thing to do, but you have an entire month off to do absolutely nothing. Use this time to read a new book or reread your favorite book. Whatever it is just read it! It’ll keep you very busy and it’s something so simple.

Go for a drive

As a freshman I am pretty much stuck in a bubble here on campus. So, I am extremely excited to go home and drive my car. My absolute favorite thing to do is just for a drive and listen to music. Especially since it’s Christmas time there will be tons of beautiful Christmas lights up to look at on the drive.

Start a new show

Although I always get sad when my Netflix shows end because I was too invested in them, I always love finding new favorites. There are tons of new Netflix original shows and movies. Check them out!

Catch up with old friends

I am also excited to go home and see all of my friends! It has been a long four months without my high school best friends. This is the perfect time to catch up with your friends and enjoy being home.

Have a spa day

Ladies, we all need at least one day of pampering while we’re home this break. You’ve all been working so hard this semester and it is time to treat yourself. Go get your nails done, do a face mask, or even take a bubble bath.

Go ice skating

Even though you might fall on your butt a few times it is still a fun festive winter activity to do. Skating never gets old. Grab a few friends or even go with your siblings!

Closet clean out

I will definitely be taking a few days to do a huge deep cleaning of my closet when I am home this break! At school, you don’t have a lot of space and you typically only bring the clothes you wear. So, try to go through all those clothes you left at home and make some donation piles!

Look for a job

Although it might be a little late, it never hurts to look for some sort of work. Whether it’s babysitting or even shoveling the driveway, you could always use the extra cash! If you can’t find a seasonal job, look into maybe volunteering somewhere local. It looks great on your resume and it’ll be a great experience.

Prepare for spring semester

I know this is the last thing you want to be thinking about over break, but it never hurts to start getting a few things ready for next semester. Make sure all your classes are set and you have all your textbooks ready!
