By now, I’m sure we’ve all heard of the United States government shutdown. The shutdown was ultimately caused by a refusal to grant President Trump just over $5 billion towards the construction of a wall along the US-Mexico border. The shutdown continued on for 35 days until today, when Trump announced a deal to temporarily reopen the government for three weeks. This controversial issues has caused a lot of uproar for over a month, and have consequently left many government workers and families outraged.
While the Department of Defense were still being paid during the government shutdown, the majority of government workers were not being compensated for their hard work. This period of not receiving proper compensation has left many families struggling to meet ends meet and wondering when their next paycheck will arrive. This has been a very stressful time period for workers and has caused a great deal of confusion in the White House. With that being said, what is the general outlook of the government shutdown? Could it have been avoided as a whole? Our voice matters, and it is important that we go out of our way to use it. The United States is in need of a positive change that will uplift the spirits of its citizens, and that change can come from each and every single one of us.
