You’ve had your eyes on that club that looks so fun. You’re interested in their events. You aren’t busy during their meetings, but you just can’t make yourself go.

I get it. That was my last semester. I was so afraid to get out there and be vulnerable. I thought that I might be intruding on some close-knit group and never find my way in. I convinced myself that it wasn’t worth the risk, but in reality, there is no risk.

There are hundreds of clubs, intramural sports, and activities on your college campus that are actively seeking new members. Anything from the business club, the Quidditch team, or club volleyball. There’s something for everyone. Think about it, nothing bad could come from attending a meeting!

After just my first week of joining club volleyball, I felt amazing. I felt productive, getting out there and getting a great workout in while doing something that I genuinely love. I am socializing with so many more people than just my inner circle of friends. I had friends and familiar faces everywhere I went on campus. It makes you feel like you’re not just a little fish in this sea we call campus.

There is a close-knit group. A group that will accept you with open arms. If you just put yourself out there and set that self-doubt to the side, you will have an amazing time and make friends that will last a lifetime.
